Tips
to look your best
Girls
-
- Arrive 15 minutes early
so you don’t lose any time on your session.
- Bring several changes of clothes that are all your favorites and at
least 1 outfit your parents will like. Our goal is to bring your
natural style out, so don’t dress in all Abercrombie if you spend most
of your time at Hot Topic.
- Beware of super low-cut shirts or teeny-tiny skirts, they make
pictures difficult and you will be limited on shot styles and poses.
- Plan for super-quick changes that may have to be done in the car, in
gross public bathrooms (where you have to play the “don’t let anything
touch the floor” game), or somewhere even less convenient.
- Examine yourself in the mirror the day before from different angles
in each outfit to make sure one doesn’t give you a J-Lo butt if that’s
not the look you’re going for.
- Practicing your various “looks” and poses in the mirror is a good
idea so that you know what to do to look your best when the time comes.
- Don’t forget to bring matching accessories for each outfit... they make pictures more fun.
- Don’t wear makeup with SPF sunscreen unless you’re really into Twilight and you secretly wish you were a vampire.
- Bring makeup and hair products for touch-ups.
- We love working with props so bring anything you love... your
favorite book, an instrument you play, or even something as random as
your favorite hot pink nail polish. Get creative and we’ll see
what we can work with. Old school/vintage looking stuff is our
personal fave!
- Be nice to your photographers or we’ll add 10 lbs. to you in Photoshop (totally kidding of course!).
Guys
-
- Arrive 15 minutes early

natural style out, so don’t dress in all Abercrombie if you spend most

- Don’t shave the day of, do it a day ahead of time so you don’t have razor burn.
- Practice your facial expressions in the mirror ahead of time (lots of
guys only have 2 looks: fake happy or really pissed off). Go for
that “chill, confident guy” look or maybe the “intense, emotional guy”
look.
- We love working with props so bring anything you love... your
favorite book, an instrument you play, or even something as random as
your pet goldfish. Get creative and we’ll see what we can work
with. Old school/vintage looking stuff is our personal fave!
- Be nice to your photographers or we’ll add zits to your face in Photoshop (totally kidding of course!).
- Now look at the girl’s tips list and all the junk they have to deal with just for a day of pictures and be glad you’re a guy.
